FAQs

Are we a good fit?

Realizing that the therapeutic process is primarily a relational process, finding a counselor that you gel with is important. Therefore, we are willing to talk by phone or in person to discuss your goals for counseling and answer any questions about how we see the therapeutic process.

What to expect at my first session?

The initial session is an intake, dedicated to gather pertinent information about the issues you are currently facing to find the best option for treatment.

How do I prepare for my first session?

You can prepare for your first session by completing the client history beforehand online, as well as a list of any questions you may have. We will spend the first minutes of the session going over paperwork and our informed consent so that you are aware of your rights as well as our office policies and procedures. Once that is out of the way, I will then work with you to fully understand your areas of concern and start to develop goals and a plan to meet those goals.

How do I schedule?

For new clients: You can call 918-986-1559 or fill out out consultation request form. You will be contacted, asked a few basic questions and given some options for scheduling.

For current clients: You can log into your client portal at any time to schedule an appointment.

What if I go over my session time?

Session times range from 50 to 60 minutes. If you stay past an hour, additional fees will accrue in 15 minute increments.

How long will I have to be in therapy?

The average duration of treatment is between 8-12 sessions. However duration varies depending on the client, the circumstances they are facing among other variables.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes some of our clinicians do accept insurance. Please contact us for more information on what policies are accepted.

How do I pay?

You may pay for your sessions at the time of service in the office or online through your client portal once you have become an established client of Joy Christian Counseling.

Can I bring my spouse or family member to my sessions?

Yes! Sessions are open to whomever you would like to include. There are times our therapists will suggest bringing a family member to help provide more information or work on client specified issues.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. JCC provides mental health talk therapy. If medication is needed, clients will be referred to a psychiatrist or medical professional for further evaluation.

If medication is needed counseling is still highly recommended. Medication helps to improve some things, however therapy addresses cognitive distortions, coping skills, and behavioral patterns that ultimately digest into a lifestyle.
